Job Description
The Road Project Manager will manage construction initiatives on road segments in targeted communities along road sections to be built. The Road Project Manager will be responsible for managing and supervising working crews in the field, overseeing road construction of this project. The incumbent will work closely with the Construction Manager, to ensure that all aspects of the project are following proposed timelines and are implemented according to USAID and IRD standards. Closely work with construction Manager to insure proper project implementation and to address and resolve any major issue, including logistics and security issues. Perform other duties as assigned.


Main responsibilities:

1. Project /Practice Management:

• Executes project work plans (Schedules) and revises in cooperation with the Construction Manager as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
• Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
• Manages day-to-day operational aspects of the project.
• Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to Construction Manager.
• Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards.
• Minimizes our exposure and risk on project.
• Ensures project documents are complete, current, sent electronically, and stored appropriately.
• Project Accounting.
• Tracks and reports team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
• Manages project budget.
• Determines appropriate revenue recognition, reviews sub-contractor invoicing to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.

• Moderate understanding of labor and equipment capabilities, and labor and equipment production.
• Possesses a thorough understanding of our capabilities.

  Desired Candidate's Profiles
  Profile
Education and Work Experience:

• Degree in engineering or appropriate technical degree,
• minimum of 5 years experience in management of complex development activities including skills in road construction and capacity building



Skills:
• Experience managing road projects and local contractors in Afghanistan.
• Substantial experience in staff management in culturally diverse settings required.
• Knowledge and experience with Afghanistan language and culture preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues. Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. Must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
